Sweet Kavanaugh's Nursery

Today we are sharing a space near and dear to our hearts, sweet Kavanaugh’s nursery.  With a baby on the way, this was the very first room Heloise designed when she and her husband moved into their new home two years ago.  Although Heloise has done nurseries for close friends and high-profile clients alike, there is no feeling like putting together the nursery for your own first baby.

We wanted to keep this room soothing and mostly gender-neutral, so we started with Willow Leaf Wallpaper by Schumacher in Flax to give the crib wall some subtle interest.  The glider chair was made by Lee Industries.  We opted for a washable slip-cover that can be removed and refreshed after those inevitable spit-up accidents.  We paid homage to our baby girl with a pink floor lamp.  A similar lamp from Mintwood Home's store is linked here!

Hanging over Kavanaugh's crib is the felt Swan Mobile by Pehr.  In addition to canvas storage bins in all sizes, Mintwood Home also offers Pehr's whimsical rugs and decor.  The paintings behind the glider are by Holly Mabrey Poole.

On the other side of the room we converted a vintage chest into a changing table/dresser combo by taking height off the top of the chest, painting, and adding a changing pad.  Our popular Sepik Mirror hangs above.  Painting is an easy way to refresh that vintage chest or vanity you may be hanging onto.  You can also switch out the drawer pulls or knobs for an updated look!

Lastly, but most importantly, we did a custom closet design by a company called Easy Closets, which maximized the space and gave shoes, dressers and sweaters their own little nooks. What a difference it makes being able to see everything at a glance!
