Heloise believes that being comfortable in your home is essential to being happy. While studying education in graduate school, The Washington Post approached her about doing a story on her rental basement apartment, which she transformed into a beautiful, budget-friendly retreat. Soon after the story ran she traded in her chalkboard for a job working with a top DC design firm.

While Heloise loved interior design, she ultimately found it too exclusive and cost prohibitive for young professionals. Particularly frustrated with buying custom pillows—trade-only fabrics, high prices and long lead times—she set out to simplify the process and make great design more accessible.

Her Mintwood Motto: "Decorating should be fun, affordable and reflect your personal sense of style."
